Henry County Jail Administrator resigns amid state investigation into misconduct allegations

By Susan DeVilder    February 8, 2024

Jerrico Lessard, who has been jail administrator of the Henry County Jail since 2021, resigned on Jan. 23, 2024 after the Illinois State Police began conducting an investigation into off-duty allegations of misconduct, according to a news release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

On Jan. 8, the HCSO began an internal investigation into the allegations, and placed Lessard on paid administrative leave. During their investigation, the ISP was contacted to conduct an independent investigation. “The Sheriff’s Office fully cooperated and provided all necessary information to aid their investigation,” the release stated.

The Kewanee Voice reached out to the ISP several weeks ago seeking information on the investigation, and the request was denied. The spokesperson for the state police said they couldn’t comment on ongoing investigations.

According to the HCSO, this is an active investigation and no further information can be released at this time.
