The Henry County Mental Health Alliance is inviting the public to their Party at the Pavilion, in observance of the upcoming World Mental Health Day on Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Windmont Park in Kewanee.
The public is invited to join them for a celebration that will focus on sharing local resources and strengthening connections. The event will include a variety of informational tables with materials and handouts relevant to the contributing organizations. The evening will also feature: chair massages, health food kits, miniature horses and live music.
The Party at the Pavilion also marks the finale of the Step Squad and will feature Step Squad Awards at 5:15 p.m. The Step Squad was the brainchild of Henry County Mental Health Alliance board member, Lacy Rosenberg.
The Party at the Pavilion will wrap up four months of walking by members every Tuesday at noon or 5:30 p.m. around Windmont Park. Participants walked for points that will be cashed in for prizes to be awarded that night.
“Walking is not only the easiest form of exercise but it’s also great for mental health,” said Rosenberg.
Organizers also encourage Alliance members to participate by setting up tables with materials and resources relevant to their organizations. Space is available for those interested in engaging directly with attendees.
