The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is urging residents to take precautions against the spread of influenza, flu and other seasonal respiratory illnesses, as rates continue to climb across the state.
The Henry and Stark County Health Departments note that flu activity in the state has climbed to “very high” this past week.
“Illinois is facing a significant winter surge in seasonal respiratory illnesses with flu activity at very high levels,” said IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra. “Vaccinations remain the most effective tool to prevent severe illness from flu, COVID-19, and RSV.”
The Health Departments are reminding local residents they have seasonal flu shots for all adults and children – 6months and older, as well as Pfizer Updated Adult Covid-19 shots at their clinics in Kewanee and Toulon on a “walk-in basis” and by appointment while supplies last.

Residents can visit or call the First Choice Healthcare location nearest them: Kewanee, 110 N. Burr Blvd., 309-852-5272; and Toulon, 120 East Court St., 309-852-3115.
