Hayrides and hauntings await at Baker Park

By The Kewanee Voice    October 1, 2025

Ghosts, ghouls, and goblins await visitors to Baker Park this weekend when Bakersville returns Saturday, Oct. 4 from 7 p.m. to midnight at Baker Park in Kewanee.

This popular annual haunted hayrack ride winds through the park treating its patrons with 45-minutes that are packed with spooky family fun.

The hayrack ride features multiple stops with live skits, eerie decorations, and jump scares, all staged by local volunteers. Off the wagon, guests can warm up by fire pits, snap pictures in one of the many staged photo opp areas, enjoy food and drinks, and receive free tarot card readings at the Kewanee Park District’s newly opened pavilion.

Timed ride slots are available through pre-sale tickets to help minimize wait times. Tickets can be purchased in person at Mike Miler Edward Jones, located at 204 N. Tremont St. during business hours 10 a.m-4 p.m and through Head Nods and High 5’s after 5 p.m. at 202 N. Tremont St. Tickets may also be purchased the night of the event with limited time slots available.

Organizers note there is no backup rain date. In the event of cancellation due to weather, ticket holders will be refunded.

Bakersville was revived in 2019 after a decade-long hiatus and has since become a staple of Kewanee’s fall festivities, drawing hundreds of volunteers and visitors each year.
