
Three Kewanee High School boys competed in the 2A State Track and Field Championship meet Friday in Charleston and three Annawan-Wethersfield boys competed in the 1A State competition.
2A State Track and Field Championship
Junior Leocadio Gandarilla advanced to the Saturday finals in discus with a throw of 152′ 09″. Gandarilla finished 14th in the shot put (49′ 07″), just missing qualifying for the finals by two spots (the top 12 advance to the finals).

Sophomore Anthony Padilla ran a personal best time of 15.27 in the 110 high hurdles (16th place), but failed to make the Saturday finals (top 9 advanced).

Senior JJ Roginski tied for 17th in high jump at 5′ 10.75″, but also missed qualifying for the finals (top 11 advanced).

1A State Track and Field Championship
Junior Karson Shrum competed in the 1600 meter run and placed 18th in a time of 4:36.84 (the top 12 advanced to the finals). Shrum will also compete in the 3200 meter run on Saturday (there are no prelims in the event).
Junior Zeb Rashid ran a time of 11.20 in the 100 meter dash, placing 24th in the prelims (the top 9 advanced to the finals).
Annawan-Wethersfield junior Irvin Landwehr competed in the pole vault, clearing 10′ 11.75″. Landwehr’s height put him in a 3-way tie for 22nd place (the top 17 advanced to the finals).
