Galva police report for Nov. 10-16

Nov. 10:

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department in reference to an assault complaint. The officer learned that it allegedly occurred in Kewanee. It was referred to the Kewanee Police Department.

Police responded to a fraud/identity complaint in the 1300 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a juvenile needing a mental health evaluation at a residence on SE 6th Street.

Nov. 11:

A 17-year-old Galva teen was issued a citation for failure to yield the right-of-way at a yield intersection after police witnessed a two vehicle accident at the intersection of NW 1st Street. Both vehicles and a utility pole suffered extensive damage, but no injuries were reported.

Police responded to a request for a welfare check at a residence on SW 4th Avenue. No contact was made.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 400 block of NW 9th Street.

Nov. 12:

A citizen was assisted in the 300 block of SE 3rd Avenue.

Police responded to an aggressive animal complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

While patrolling, police observed a small leaf fire in the 200 block of SW 5th Street. The resident was asked to extinguish it as it was not a burn day.

While patrolling, police saw a large leaf fire in the 200 block of NW 7th Avenue. The resident was asked to extinguish it as it was not a burn day.

Police responded to a dog bite complaint in the 300 block of SE 5th Street. A neighbor’s dog had bitten the complainant’s dog, causing minor injuries.

Police conducted a welfare check on a subject at a residence on East Division Street. They were fine.

Police responded to a medical alarm call that was plotted on NE 5th Street. It was determined to be an accidental activation.

Nov. 13:

Police assisted a motorist that locked their keys inside a vehicle in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. Henry County was not able to get the vehicle unlocked. The owner was referred to Tarleton’s or another locksmith for assistance.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 600 block of NW 2nd Street.

Police responded to a city ordinance violation that had junk within public view in the 00 block of SE 6th Street.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 200 block of Exchange Street. It was determined to be an accidental misdial.

Jamie Howard, 37, Galva, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic battery following a report of a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue. She was taken to Henry County Jail.

Police checked on an open door in the 400 block of SW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a complaint about a reckless driver coming towards Galva at the west edge of town. The officer located the suspect vehicle but did not see any violations to justify a traffic stop.

Nov. 14:

A motorist was assisted in the 100 block of SE 6th Street.

While patrolling, police observed a small fire in the 200 block of NE 1st Street. The resident was asked to extinguish it as it was not a burn day.

John Kurzeja, 44, Galva, was arrested by Galva and Henry County officers for aggravated battery to a police officer, threatening a public official, disorderly conduct-false police reports and disorderly conduct-pointing a laser pointer at police after police were dispatched multiple times for 9-1-1 calls in the 00 block of NE 4th Street. He was taken to Henry County Jail.

A citizen was assisted in the 500 block of West Division Street.

A citizen was assisted in the 600 block of NW 5th Avenue.

Nov. 15:

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 400 block of SW 1st Avenue.
A motorist was assisted in the 300 block of Commercial Street.

Police responded to a subject who located a wallet and wanted to turn it into police in the 00 block of NE 7th Street.

Cory Notbush, 29, Galva, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue.

Nov. 16:

Police responded to a report of a large fire in the 300 block of NE 9th Street. It was determined to be a controlled burn.

Police assisted Henry County with a moving domestic disturbance in a passing vehicle on Route 34 just east of town.
