Galva police report for Feb. 9-15

Feb. 9:

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a city ordinance violation involving junk and trash scattered around the property in the 100 block of NW 8th Avenue.

Patrick Hammons, 69, Galva, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failing to appear on the charge of driving while license is suspended, no insurance and speeding, following an attempt by police to locate a wanted subject in the 500 block of SW 7th Street. He was taken to the Henry County Jail.

Ruby Brodrick, 35, Gerlaw, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. She was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a report of a sick or injured raccoon in the roadway in the 100 block of North Exchange Street. The raccoon was dead upon the officer’s arrival.

Feb. 10:

Police responded to a report of theft and criminal trespass to a residence in the 600 block of North Center Avenue.

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 400 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a neighbor dispute in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a prowler complaint in the 2100 block of Trolley Road. The officer checked the area and was unable to locate anyone.

Police watched for a reckless driver who was reportedly coming towards Galva at the north edge of town. The officer did not locate the suspect vehicle.

Feb. 11:

Police spoke with a subject by telephone about an incident involving a minor injury that occurred several months ago.

Police responded to a single vehicle accident in the 300 block of Market Street. The vehicle struck a building, causing moderate damage.

Police checked on a disabled vehicle that was reported several miles east of town. It had been removed.

Feb. 12:

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police again assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a neighbor dispute in the 200 block of East Division Street.

John Kurzeja, 45, Galva, was arrested for disorderly conduct, false police reporting and false reporting to a public service agency after police responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls for a non emergency in the 00 block of NE 4th Street. He was taken to Henry County Jail.

Police responded to a car vs. deer accident with damage only, north of the Galva city limits on the Galva-Atkinson blacktop. A crash report was completed. The deer did not survive.

Feb. 13:

Police and Stark County Medic responded to a report of an unresponsive person at a residence on SE 1st Street. There were no signs of life. The Henry County coroner was contacted.

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 300 block of SW 6th Avenue. The owner was located, and the dog was returned.

Police responded to an illegal burning complaint after a large fire was seen in the backyard of a residence in the 600 block of NE 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance between siblings in the 200 block of SW 3rd Street.

Feb. 14:

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 500 block of SW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a ruptured water supply line at a house in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street. The Galva Water Dept was contacted and was able to shut the water off.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 00 block of SW 5th Street. The officer was unable to locate the animal.

Police conducted a welfare check on a suicidal subject at a residence on NW 5th Avenue.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 200 block of NW 2nd Avenue. The dog was located and returned to its owner.

Feb. 15:

Police assisted Henry County Sheriff’s Office with a forcible detainer/eviction in the 400 block of SW 4th Avenue.

Police responded to a missing person complaint in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. The subject was located in Knox County.

Police monitored a high-speed vehicle pursuit at the north edge of town that was leaving Kewanee on Page Street. The suspect vehicle crashed on Page Street at the Galva-Atkinson blacktop. Galva police responded and assisted the Henry County Sheriff’s Office with their arrest.
