
Kalleigh Gale was dominant in the circle, as the pitcher rang up 11 strikeouts in the Boiler Girls’ 11-1 victory over Mendota on Monday. Gale gave up five hits and one run over five innings while walking none.
Mendota opened the scoring in the first inning scoring one run.
Kewanee jumped to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first on a Rylee Blades single, a Kieryn Abernathy run-scoring fielder’s choice and an Audrey Clucas 2 RBI single.
Kewanee scored seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Boilermakers amassed 14 hits in the game. Addy Yepsen, Riley Blades and Dani Jo Currier each collected three hits for Kewanee. Clucas led Kewanee with two runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day.
Kewanee will travel to Ridgewood for their next game on Wednesday.
