Four area teams open HS golf season

The high school golf season has begun, and golfers from four area schools competed this past week.

Kewanee fell 194-216 to LaSalle-Peru in a dual meet Thursday.

Dalton Bender was the medalist for Kewanee with a nine-hole score of 50. Rounding out the top four for the Boiler golfers were Owen Laue (52), Jack Anderson (55) and Carver Neulieb (59).

In a triangular meet Thursday at Midland Country Club, the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans placed second in both the girls and boys competitions.

Galva won the boys match with 213 strokes, followed by A-W (217) and Stark County (231).

Individual scores for Galva were Branden Murphy 48, John Ingels 49, MJ Louck 55 and Eli West 61.

For A-W, the top four scorers were Caleb McGill 48, Drew Wise and Daylon Hendricks 55 and Zach Gerber 59.

Stark County scores were Adam West 50, TJ Giesenhagen 52, Evan Brady 58 and Toby Williams 71.

For the girls, Stark County led the way with a team total of 254, followed by A-W 257 and Galva 345.

Lady Rebels top scorers were Olivia Orwig 58, Emily Hurst 60, Lauren Best 66 and Maeve Colgan 70.

The Lady Titans’ Katie Attig was the meet medalist with a 51, followed by Elle Eastman 63, Layla Kraft 69 and Elise Manuel 74.

Galva’s top scorers were Tori Conner 70, Hallie Anderson 80 and Olivia Calderon 92.
