Recently, the Kewanee Elks donated $2000 to the Kewanee Area United Way “Shoes for Kids” project, which was implemented in 2024 to provide shoes for kids in the Kewanee area school districts.

The project was created in response to stories from local teachers about kids arriving at school with shoes that were falling apart or inappropriate for the weather.

Shoes for Kids is part of the Kewanee Area United Way’s efforts to address poverty and provide support to the community. KAUWs – Shoes for Kids has plans to expand and to help further reach the needs of local children.

Donations can be made through the Kewanee Area United Way website and can be directed to the Shoes For Kids project.
