For the second year, the “Hog Capital Pig Plop” fundraiser will be a featured event during Kewanee Hog Days.

The event started last year as a collaboration between the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Kewanee. The pig plop raises funds for both organizations and benefits community projects.

This year’s pig plop is set for Monday, Sept. 4 at 3 pm in the Johnson Appliance parking lot downtown. Small pink pigs will be dropped from a lift onto a “boars-eye” target. The closet pigs win the prize.

The pigs are $5 each or a whole litter of five pigs can be purchased for $20. Pigs are available at the chamber office located at 113 E. Second Street. Information can also be obtained through Kiwanis Club members.

Three winners will be chosen and prizes are $500 for the pig landing closest to the target, $250 for the runner-up and $125 for the third closest pig.

The “Hog Capital Pig Plop” is sponsored by Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home, Edward Jones Investments (Todd Reeser, Mike Miler, Patrick Kolata and Jesse Humphrey), Peoples National Bank, Breedlove Sporting Goods, Rux Funeral Home, The Daily Fix Nutrition, Union Federal Savings & Loan, J&D Tree Service, B&B Printing and Johnson Appliance.
