Lori Nelson has joined the Freedom House’s board of directors, the organization recently announced.
Nelson brings more than four decades of leadership experience in behavioral health, clinical program supervision, compliance and executive administration to the agency.
“Lori’s career reflects an extraordinary commitment to ethical leadership, quality services and community collaboration,” said Chief Executive Officer Michael Zerneck. “Her extensive background in behavioral health systems, compliance and strategic operations, combined with her lifelong connection to Freedom House’s mission, will be an invaluable asset to our board and the families we serve.”
Nelson is the eldest daughter of Freedom House Founder, Nedda Simon, and is soon to retire as President of Lori Nelson Consulting, PLLC.
Her community involvement includes serving as a McHenry High School District 156 school board member and volunteering to support youth development, domestic violence and sexual abuse prevention.
“Freedom House has always represented courage, compassion and accountability,” said Nelson. “I am honored to continue my mother’s legacy by supporting an organization that has never wavered in its commitment to survivors and to strengthening our communities.”
