The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) House was open for tours Saturday, Sept. 2 from 10 am to 2 pm. Tour guides were Tom and Linda Ashby of Bradford and Dick & Jani Wells. The guides dressed in period colonial dress.

Also acting as tour guides were Betsy Tocha, Regent and Gail Ripka, registrar. Over 50 people viewed the 1850 home, which was given to the DAR in 1904. Folks who toured the historic house were local and from Texas and Missouri and everyone had a story.

One woman had viewed the home as a child and was sharing the experience with her young daughter. Local history is important and must be shared with our young people, she said.

Anyone interested in joining the DAR is invited to contact Gail Ripka, registrar, at (309) 312-1716.
