The Windmont Park Lighting volunteers are holding a cookie drive.
The group is in need of an assortment of cookies to feed the crowd that’s sure to gather for the annual Windmont Park Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Cookies can be homemade or store-bought and should be dropped off at the Kewanee YMCA on Dec. 4, 5 and 6. Organizers are asking people to donate two dozen.
The donated cookies will be passed out at the shelter house when children and families stop by after the official park lighting to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus. Last year, not one donated cookie remained after the shelter open house, said cookie drive organizer Alice Horrie. Horrie said dozens of cookies will be needed for this year’s event.
The evening will start off with a lighted parade scheduled for 5 p.m. The parade will deliver Santa and Mrs. Claus to the park, that will be illuminated around 5:30 p.m.
