The Conquest Drum and Bugle Corps and the Knights Legacy Drumline, both based in Geneseo, received gold medals during a weekend competition.
Conquest Drum and Bugle Corps and the Knights Legacy Drumline competed in the SoundSport International Music and Food Festival on Saturday, August 10. The festival is held every August in Indianapolis, Ind., in conjunction with the Drum Corps International World Championships.
Both groups competed against several other ensembles from around the United States and performed for visitors from all over the world.
Conquest is made up of several music students from Quad City area schools. They have been performing since 2019 and the weekend award was their third gold medal. Their show was entitled, “Clownquest: A Celebration of Circus Music”.
The Knights Legacy Drumline was formed this year as an offshoot of the Knights Alumni Drumline, which is composed of former percussion members of the now defunct Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, previously of Kewanee, Geneseo, and the Quad Cities. This is the first time Knights Legacy has received a gold medal at SoundSport.
Knights Legacy and Conquest joined forces this year to make the trip to Indiana happen. They are under the organizational umbrella of Conquest Performing Arts, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization.
