Led by three goals from Cristian Cazeres, Kewanee High School’s soccer team shut out Orion 5-0 Tuesday.

Cazares scored at minutes 5 and 39 of the first half and 4 of the second half.

“Usually a soccer game vs. Orion is a big rivalry,” KHS Coach Jose Bermudez said. “That’s why the Boilermakers had set their mind on winning that game.”

The game turned out to be very physical, with the teams fighting for the possession of the ball, Bermudez said.

“Kewanee generated the first goal opportunities by the hand of Cristian Cazares, little by little the game turned in favor of the Boilermakers, taking total control of the match,” he said.

He said the Boilers could have scored “a lot more goals.”

Kewanee’s other goals came from James Roginski on a header and Isidro Martinez on a right foot kick.

Roginski and Antonio Moran each had two assists and Isidro Martinez had one.

Gustavo Bermudez had two saves.

The Boilers had 27 shots for the game.
