
The Kewanee Boiler Girls softball team was back in action on Wednesday in their first regional game against Bureau Valley at Princeton High school field. Kewanee won the game 5-3.
Bureau Valley was quick to score and jumped on the board in the first inning with two runs. They added another run in the second inning. The Boiler Girls managed to hold Bureau Valley to just three runs for the rest of the game.
Kewanee was able to get on the board in the sixth inning, scoring two runs. They finished the game in the seventh inning with a three point rally, bringing the final score to 5-3.
Kewanee had seven total hits for the game. Kalleigh Gale led the team with three hits and two RBIs. McKensey Stontz and Tori Dennison each had one hit and one RBI. Mikaela Salisbury and Hannah Tiska added one hit each.
Salisbury started on the mound for the Boiler Girls. She threw for three innings, striking out three batters and allowing seven hits. Gale came into the game in relief and worked the mound for four innings. She racked up a whopping eleven strikeouts and allowed four hits.
