Boiler Girls go 2-2 in Sherrard tourney

The KHS girls varsity volleyball team started Saturday’s tournament at Sherrard High School with a rough loss against Rockridge, 15-25, 21-25. 

The Boilers improved in the second game, beating Morrison in three sets: 25-17, 25-21. 

This success continued in KHS’s victory over Peoria in two sets, 25-23, 25-13.  

Even though the varsity girls put up a good fight against Knoxville for their last match of the day, they lost 25-13, 20-25, 8-15.

Here are the stat leaders for the volleyball tournament:

Aces: Macee Pickering 12, Macy Anderson 10

Digs: Claire Taylor 19, Taylor VanWinkle 14

Assists: Kendyl DeBlieck 27, Macee Pickering 26

Kills: Macee Pickering 19, Macy Anderson 15

Blocks: Aaliyah Duarte 3

The varsity volleyball team will be in action this Thursday, Oct. 17, against Newman Central Catholic High School in Brockman Gym.
