Boiler boys freshman, sophomore coaches provide team updates

Kewanee High School sophomore boys basketball Coach Matt Costenson provided this update on the team’s past few games.

— The Riveters defeated the Farmington JV squad 57-37 on Saturday morning. The win moved the team to 15-10 on the year.

The Riveters got 14 points from Dayvon Robinson, 10 points from Jesus Martinez and 6 each from Isaiah Ince, Leeam Slover and Chris Crowe. Ten Riveters scored in the 20-point victory.

— The Kewanee sophomores defeated the Princeton JV squad 55-40 Friday night for the preliminary game of the PACK the Place night.

The Riveters were led in scoring by Chris Crowe with 16, followed by 9 points each from Isaiah Ince, Jesus Martinez and Dayvon Robinson.

The win moved the Riveters to 14-10 on the season and 6-1 in the East Division of the TRAC Conference.

— The Riveters lost to the Ottawa sophomores 43-36.

They were ed by 10 points from Dayvon Robinson and 9 from Leeam Slover.

The loss put the Riveters at 13 wins and 10 losses on the season.

Freshman Coach Trenton Terry provided this update on the team’s recent games:

The freshman boys basketball team took on Princeton in Good’s Gym on Friday night, Jan. 31. The game was a rematch for the team due to them losing to them a couple weeks before at their place. 

The Boilers took full advantage of the opportunity, beating the Tigers 44-34. It was a great, physical game that was within just a couple points for the majority of the game. 

Leading scorer was Kane Minton with 15 (making 3 3’s) followed by Jaxon DeRue with 12. 

The team moves on to 19-7 on the year.
