On Sunday evening, both Windmont and Northeast parks lit up with the warmth and brightness of Christmas as volunteers flipped the switch on the annual displays.

At Windmont Park, the festivities began with the lighted parade, which ushered in Santa and Mrs. Claus for the open house at the Shelter House. Guests enjoyed a visit with Santa along with cookies and refreshments.

Following a fireworks display, the park lights came on, their glow captured from above.

At Northeast Park, volunteers flipped the switch on the drive-thru display around 5:30 p.m., and cars quickly began filing through the illuminated route.

Each year, dozens of volunteers devote countless hours to preparing the lighted displays for the public’s enjoyment and to spread holiday spirit.

Editor’s Note: From all of us at The Kewanee Voice, thank you to each and every volunteer for their hard work and dedication to the community.
