Bakersville, the haunted ride through the park, returns with one minor change

By The Kewanee Voice    July 23, 2025

While summer is yet to wrap up, organizers of the annual haunted hayrack ride through Baker Park are already in the planning phase.

Bakersville has a date. The event is set to take place on Saturday, October 4 starting at 7 p.m.

“It is never too early for the Bakersville Committee to be thinking of spooky season,” the event Facebook page states.

Planning is already underway and earlier than usual, but the group said that while most of the event features are staying the same, they have made one change this year. There will be no backup rain date, and in the event Bakersville needs to be canceled due to rain, ticket refunds will be given.

“If no issues and the event takes place as planned, all sales are final, no refunds will otherwise be given,” the Facebook page reads.

The decision was made due to volunteers’ full schedules and prior commitments of both volunteers and committee members.
What will stay the same is in person, pre-sale tickets. There won’t be long waiting lines like riders experienced in the past. Attendees will be able to buy their tickets and choose their ride time. Ticket sale information will be announced next month.

“As always, we cannot do Bakersville without all of our amazing volunteers,” the post reads.

Those who would like to help behind the scenes, setting up the day or “haunting” the night of the event, can reach out to the committee on their Facebook page. Any questions can also be directed there.
