Hill Church in downtown Kewanee is planning a “Baggin’ the Basics” event May 27.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church at 107 N. Main St.
This is the second event to help residents in need that the church has held this year.
Area residents are asked to bring diapers and other non-food items to the church office between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday until May 26.
Items needed include baby wipes, four-packs of toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes and paste for kids. Cash donations will also be gratefully accepted.

The emphasis for the May 27 event is twofold. First is supplying needed items for women and children and diapers for infants and small children still in diapers, as well as other items.
The second emphasis is 2,500 prepackaged meal boxes prepared at the Life Skills Re-Entry Center in Kewanee by inmates and volunteers from the area.
The meals and nonfood items will be distributed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 27, and one of the Hill barbecue chefs will be passing out hot dogs to all.
