
The holiday season will shine bright in Atkinson on Saturday, Dec. 6 as the community gathers for the annual Christmas Festival to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Atkinson Grade School located at 107 S. State St. Admission is free.
Highlights include a tree lighting ceremony, holiday entertainment, and family-friendly activities. Guests can enjoy a chili and soup cookoff, a cookie walk, cookie decorating, a gingerbread house display, a Christmas Tree Contest, a family photo booth and an Ugly Sweater Contest. Children will have the chance to meet Santa Claus and join in festive games and crafts.

New this year is a lighted Christmas Parade featuring golf carts, 4x4s, lawnmowers and more.
Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early, dress warmly and take advantage of parking near the grade school.
