Kewanee downtown is getting a new paint store. Professional painter Tyler Crabtree is opening Kewanee Paint and Supply, a retail outlet that will exclusively sell Benjamin Moore products, a product he considers “the best paint” around.
Crabtree has been in the business of painting for about 13 years. He gained experience at Spets Brothers before starting his own business, Crabtree Painting. With a dwindling number of stores where residents can buy custom colored paint in town, Crabtree decided it might be a good time to tap into the retail side of his painting expertise.
Inspired to open up a paint store selling Benjamin Moore products, he looked up the nearest Benjamin Moore retailer. It was at least an hour away, and so with his experience, he figured he could open up a successful Benjamin Moore retail outlet in Kewanee.
After weighing several options for his new store’s location, he chose 104 W. Second St., a spot right next door to Good’s Furniture.
The location, he said, is perfect, since the furniture store has always been Crabtree Painting’s biggest customer. He hopes that by being their neighbor, it will help cement a good relationship that will continue to flourish.
Crabtree is planning for a soft opening later this week, and will hold a grand opening later on down the road.
The business hours for Kewanee Paint and Supply will be Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon and closed Sunday. The
