Families looking for fun should head to Annawan where they are holding their annual Annawan Family Fun Days celebration. The festival features great food, fireworks, a parade and includes activities for both kids and adults. Check out our Annawan Family Fun Days article on The Voice for a complete schedule of events.

The annual Fishing Rodeo will be held on Saturrday, June 6 starting at 7 a.m. [File photo]

Locally, families can take themselves down to the Windmont Park fishing hole and participate in the annual Oldeen Family Fishing Rodeo, put on each year by the Kewanee Park District. Registration for young anglers is free and registration starts at 7 a.m. with poles in the water at 8 a.m. Kids can compete for fun prizes including a boy and girl bicycle donated by Walmart.

For those with work rather than fun on their minds, take advantage of Kewanee’s cleanup day happening Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. It’s a great time to get rid of that unnecessary flotsam filling up your basement, attic and garage. The drop off site is the former Kewanee Hospital location on West Division and Pine Street. For a complete listing of items accepted and instructions on drop off see The Voice’s article “City sets annual citywide cleanup event for June.”
