Family mysteries aren’t always buried in dusty records—sometimes they’re alive and well in cousins you haven’t met yet. That’s the idea behind the Bureau County Genealogical Society’s Thursday, March 26 program, where Christine Cohen will explore the art of “cousin baiting” and “cousin stalking.”
A Zoom presentation will feature Cohen as she discusses the many ways to reach out to distant living cousins to help genealogists expand their pedigree chart forward in time by including new information on living relatives using family treasures, photos, DNA test-takers and information to break down a brick wall.
Cohen will explore online trees, lineage societies, cemetery indexes, newspaper obituaries, living people-finder websites and social media.
The public is invited to view this Zoom presentation in person at the Bureau County Genealogical Society located at 629 S. Main St. in Princeton where a handout will be available. This Zoom presentation is also available to be viewed remotely by Genealogical Society members only.
Please call the Genealogical Society at 815-879-3133 with any questions.
