Dear Editor,
Have we come a full cycle? Two hundred forty-nine years ago, 56 brave men signed a declaration that started this nation on its road to independence. A lot has happened to our country since that occurred.
When was the last time you read the whole “Declaration of Independence,” if ever? You might be enlightened to some of the grievances we had with the king, and how they may be relevant to today’s political environment in our country. Are we becoming what we once disagreed hated? Have we become our own worst enemy?
Take the effort and read the document, and think about where we, as a nation, are going.
(Personal Disclosure – I am the organizer of some of the “gatherings” held at 2nd & Main streets in response to the actions taken by the current administration. My next planned gathering will be July 5th at 11:30.)
