A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited back to my friend Linda’s house for another delicious meal with a garden tour. Linda lives in a beautiful historic farmhouse east of Cambridge. Linda’s yard is a labyrinth of perennial flower beds that feature many types of beautiful hostas juxtaposed among enormous shade trees. Sprinkled throughout are stunning planters boasting beautiful annuals.

We arrived mid-day to enjoy a leisurely stroll around the yard to enjoy the sights and sounds. The shade trees filtered the sun as we walked along the edges of the vast, curving flower beds. Toward the back of the yard we toured her picture perfect garden shed with an inviting front porch.

After the tour, we were welcomed into her dining room that featured her large handmade table set with coordinating dishes. We were all seated and Linda served us chicken salad croissants, creamy vegetable salad, chips and her favorite lemonade pie. We thoroughly enjoyed each portion of this luncheon, but the showstopper was her Lemonade Pie. Biting into a slice of this pie was an instant sweet and fresh sensation. The creamy texture paired perfectly with the graham cracker crust and whipped cream topping.

I asked Linda if she had a story behind her delicious pie. She said, “No, it’s just a refreshing summer’s day pie.” I encourage you to try out this recipe and share it with a friend this summer (with or without a garden tour).
From Linda’s kitchen to yours – enjoy!
