Dear Editor,
I want to thank The Kewanee Voice for being a dependable source of local news. Your recent articles have helped many of us better understand what’s happening in our community.
Your March 27, 2025, report on local farmers stood out. It explained how changes in trade and government policies are making it harder for farmers to do their jobs. It was helpful to hear directly from a local farmer and to learn how these issues affect people right here in our area.
The April 7, 2025 story about the “Hands Off” protest showed how people in Kewanee are coming together to join a nationwide movement and speak out against what is happening in our country. The Voice provided insight that was lacking from national media coverage.
Finally, your April 10, 2025, editorial about the water system clearly showed that many people in Kewanee are worried about, or just flat out against, privatization. You spoke honestly about how decisions like this can affect trust in our leaders and the future of our town, as evidenced by the LRS trash collection privatization decision.
It’s so refreshing, and much more efficient, to read reliable, well-researched news instead of trying to sort through the junk on Facebook. Your reporting helps people stay informed and understand both sides of an issue.
Thank you for covering these and other important topics and giving our community a voice. Now more than ever, we need reliable sources of information!
Sincerely,
Ruth Kapacinskas
Kewanee, Ill.
