The Kewanee Park District is seeking a new employee who will oversee the district’s growing number of facilities.

Andrew Dwyer, executive director of the park district, pointed out that a major expansion that’s in the works for the clubhouse at Baker Park, as well as last year’s opening of the splash pad at Liberty Park, have shown the need for a staff member to focus on park facilities.

The new position will include overall management of the golf course, Oasis Family Aquatic Center and other park district facilities, Dwyer said.

“An additional focus on facilities is going to be required,” he said, especially if even more facilities are added in the future. “We’re just looking to put people in position to succeed.”

Dwyer said creation of the facilities management position won’t expand the park district staff, as the new manager will replace an employee who recently resigned from the district’s maintenance department.

The park district is accepting applications for the manager position.
