More honors were won by Kewanee High School FFA members at an event last week.
“Kewanee FFA had a great showing at the Section 3 Career Development Events on Friday, Oct. 9,” said Kindra Callahan, KHS agricultural education teacher and FFA adviser.
Winners were:
Ag Ed: Remy Hicks and Mikayla Ouart. These students created a lesson plan, demonstrated a mini agriculture-related lesson, completed a lesson video reflection and took an exam on Illinois agriculture education.
Remy Hicks won in this category and will advance to district competition in Geneseo on Oct. 28.
Mikayla Ouart was first in junior varsity. She had the second-highest score of the day, behind Remy and eight points ahead of third.
“A school can only advance one student,” Callahan said, “but that doesn’t diminish the bright light that is in this future educator.”
Evelyn Favela finished fifth in the job interview category. She created a resume, completed a job application, interviewed and wrote a follow-up letter.
