Health Department to offer monthly life-saving CPR classes

By The Kewanee Voice    April 29, 2024

CPR training that could potentially save lives is being offered by the Henry and Stark County Health Departments and First Choice Healthcare.

The classes will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the health department offices, located at 110 N. Burr Blvd. The course runs from 4 to 6 p.m. and the cost of the class is $45. Payment for the classes is required prior to the class dates.

According to the HSCHD, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S.

“That’s why we encourage people to take a CPR Certification Class,” the department stated in a news release. “As the American Heart Association says, ‘Learn to save a life, learn CPR. The life you save could be that of a loved one.’”

The CPR course will teach participants to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants, children and adults. Instruction will also be given on how to recognize emergencies and action to take, as well as understanding the role of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in the cardiac chain of survival.

There is set participation for classes, so those interested are urged to contact the health department at (309) 852-0197, ext. 266.
