Galva police report for May 11-17

May 11:

Police spoke with a citizen who witnessed a domestic disturbance in their neighborhood the prior day in the 300 block of NW 4th Avenue.

Police responded to a parking complaint in the 200 block of NE 5th Avenue.

Police responded to a theft report in the 400 block of NE 2nd Street.

Beth Shappard, 23, Galva, was arrested for driving while license is suspended and operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 300 block of SE 2nd Street. She was processed at the Galva Police Department and released with a required court date.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of SW 9th Avenue. The officer was unable to locate the animal.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

May 12:

Police spoke to a resident about a found cat in the 200 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Police noticed a railroad crossing arm malfunction at the NE 6th Avenue crossing while patrolling. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police responded to a property dispute/theft report in the 600 block of NE 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a complaint involving a loose dog in the 300 block of NE 2nd Street. The owner arrived and took the dog home before the officer’s arrival.

An Officer assisted Bureau Co with checking two Galva residences in an attempt to locate a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that occurred near Princeton.

Police responded to a parking complaint in the 600 block of North Center Avenue.

Calvin Lambert, 27, Lynnville, Iowa, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street.

May 13:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 00 block of South Center Avenue. Approximately two hours later, the dog was located in the 900 block of SE 8th Street and returned to its owner.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 call that was plotted in the 700 block of NW 6th Street. It was confirmed to be a misdial.

Police responded to a complaint involving a group of juveniles causing mischief in the 800 block or NW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a complaint of a special needs child who had wandered away from home in the 500 block of SW 3rd Avenue. The officer stayed with the child until a parent was contacted and said they would pick up the child.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to renew their quarterly sex offender registration. A completed form was emailed to Henry County for LEADS entry.

May 14:

Police responded to a complaint involving illegal burning in the 100 block of NW 8th Avenue. A resident was attempting to burn garbage. The fire was extinguished.

Police responded to a battery complaint in the 700 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Police watched for a reckless driver at the south edge of town. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

May 15:

Police removed a tree branch blocking part of the roadway in the 100 block of SE 1st Street.

Police responded to a report of a special needs child who appeared to have wandered from home in the 600 block of NW 1st Street. The child was located at Wiley Park and returned to a caregiver.

Police responded to a juvenile complaint in the 100 block of SE 6th Avenue.

Police responded to a property line/trespassing complaint in the 600 block of NW 5th Avenue.

Police spoke with a subject by telephone about posted weight limits on various roads in town.

Donald Ensley, 39, Galva, was arrested for domestic battery following a report of a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of NE 9th Street. He was taken to Henry County Jail.

May 16:

Police removed a tree limb that had fallen in the roadway in the 600 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police removed a tree limb that had fallen in the roadway in the 700 block of NW 7th Avenue.

Police met with a complainant at the Galva Police Department in reference to an attempted scam.

Police responded to a loud noise complaint in the 600 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 100 block of NE 9th Street.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a neighborhood dispute in the 100 block of SW 10th Avenue.

May 17:

Police registered a sex offender at the Galva Police Department. A completed form was sent to Henry County for LEADS entry.

Police assisted a resident who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on SE 8th Avenue. The subject was fine.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue.
