Police responded to a complaint involving a loose dog that was struck by a vehicle in the 200 block of SW 6th Avenue. The dog had minor injuries and was transported home and returned to its owners.
Police responded to a freight train that had stopped and was blocking all Galva crossings. The train began to move after about 10 minutes, which allowed traffic to resume.
Police spoke with a subject at City Hall about an ordinance warning letter they had received.
Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to follow up on a theft complaint previously reported.
Police were present at a civil standby during a child visitation in the 100 block of NW 3rd Avenue.
Lacey Hall, 37, Altona, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for a mandatory insurance violation following a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Center Avenue. She was released with a required court date.
Jennifer Willey, 43, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for a mandatory insurance violation following a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Exchange Street. She was released with a required court date.
March 3
Police checked on a suspicious vehicle while patrolling that was parked behind a building in the 200 block of South Exchange Street. The subject had permission to be there.
While patrolling, police noticed a freight train had stopped and was blocking all Galva crossings. BNSF was contacted, and the train eventually moved along.
Police assisted Illinois DCFS with information about a local family.
Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department about obtaining an order of protection.
Police responded to several complaints of a reckless driver at the east edge of town. The officer located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a written warning for following too closely.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line in the 300 block of SW 2nd Avenue. It was determined to be an accidental misdial.
March 4:
Police and fire departments responded to a possible truck on fire in the 500 block of SE Industrial Avenue. Upon arrival, the truck had been unloaded, but there was a small fire on the ground. The fire department was able to extinguish it.
Police assisted Henry County a couple of times with a vehicle pursuit that came towards the Galva area. The subject ultimately wrecked the vehicle and was taken into custody Northwest of Galva by the HCSO.
Police assisted the ambulance with medical calls on SW 4th Street and SE 1st Street.
March 5:
Police responded to a complaint of disorderly conduct/social media threats in the 100 block of North Exchange Street.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up in the 400 block of West Division Street. It was a pocket dial.
Robin Atkinson, 60, Kewanee, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 300 block of Main Street. She was released with a required court date.
Police responded to a theft complaint in the 400 block of NW 4th Street.
Police were notified about a dog bite complaint by hospital staff. The incident actually occurred in rural Galva, so the information was relayed to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
March 6:
Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to take a complaint involving identity theft.
Police spoke with a resident at City Hall about an ordinance violation notice they had received.
Police responded to a disturbance involving a group of juveniles at Wiley Park.
Police responded to a physical disturbance in the 700 block of NW 1st Avenue. The victim declined to prosecute.
Police assisted a motorist with a flat tire in the 100 block of Morgan Road.
March 7:
Police served a written banning notice to a resident after a theft complaint in the 500 block of SW 3rd Street.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 300 block of SW 4th Avenue. The dog was taken to the pound and later returned to its owner.
Police and the ambulance were dispatched to the 500 block of SE 2nd Street for an intoxicated person. The subject refused transport.
Kenneth Bryant, 75, Galesburg, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
March 8:
Police assisted a motorist who apparently had a broken axle in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 400 block of SW 6th Avenue. The officer was unable to locate the animal.
