Galva police report for April 6-12

April 6

Police assisted a subject who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police checked the welfare of a resident who activated a medical pendant alarm on SE 6th Avenue. The officer located the patient, who advised that it was an accidental activation.

While patrolling, police located a utility wire down across the roadway in the 100 block of Main Street. It was found to be a cable wire and was removed.

Police assisted Henry County with a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Center Avenue.

Mallory Merrill, 30, Cambridge, was issued a citation for speeding in the 800 block of North Center Avenue.

April 7

Police assisted a subject who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a complaint involving criminal trespass to a residence in the 400 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police again assisted a subject who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

While patrolling, police located a motorist who had locked themselves out of their vehicle in the 700 block of NW 5th Street. Tarleton’s were contacted and were able to gain access to the vehicle and retrieve the keys.

Police responded to a loud noise complaint involving a contractor doing work late at night in the 400 block of SE 6th Avenue.

Police responded to the east edge of town after Henry County initiated a vehicle pursuit on Route 34 near Route 78. The pursuit headed further east into Stark County, where an arrest was ultimately made.

April 8

Police responded to an activated fire alarm in the 300 block of Commercial Street. The officer determined that a resident had burned some food, and no actual fire was present.

Police assisted a subject who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police assisted the Galva Water Department with speaking to a sewer contractor working without a city permit in the 400 block of SE 6th Avenue.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
Doroteo Duarte, 34, Galva, was issued an AWT (administrative warning ticket) for failure to obtain a valid rabies inoculation following a dog bite complaint in the 200 block of East Division Street.

Police responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up in the 400 block of SW 1st Avenue.

April 9

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police conducted two low speed vehicle inspections in the 700 block of North Center Avenue.

Police responded to a complaint involving harassment/disorderly conduct in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a stalking/trespassing complaint in the 100 block of NW 6th Avenue. A suspect was served a written banning notice.

April 10

Police responded to a physical altercation in the yard involving three subjects in the 900 block of West Division Street. The subjects were located and refused to prosecute.

Police checked on the welfare of a subject at a residence on SE 2nd Street. They were fine.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 200 block of SW 4th Street. The owner was able to capture the dog and take it home.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of SW 5th Street. It was returned to its owner, who lived nearby.

Jaylon Foster, 23, Moline, was issued a citation for speeding in the 900 block of North Center Avenue.

April 11

Police responded to a reckless driver complaint at the north edge of town. The officer located the suspect vehicle but did not observe any violations to justify a traffic stop.

While patrolling, police located a disabled vehicle just east of town on Route 34. The owner had assistance en route to help them.

Police were notified about a suicidal subject who had Galva connections. Several addresses were checked, but the suspect was not located.

April 12

Police spoke to a subject by telephone in reference to a harassment/disorderly conduct complaint.

Averyl Stevenson, 28, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle, following a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Center Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a pedestrian who was not acting normally near the roadway in the 800 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a medical incident. Stark County Medic responded and transported the subject for treatment/evaluation.

Police removed a deer carcass and vehicle parts from the roadway at the east edge of town.

Evelina Barber, 27, Galesburg, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
