Galva police report for April 27-May 3

April 27:

Police responded to a report of a utility wire that was lying across the roadway in the 100 block of NW 4th Avenue. It was determined to be a cable wire and was rolled up onto the terrace.

While patrolling, police located a loose dog in the roadway on Route 34. The dog was taken to the pound and was later returned to its owner.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up in the 300 block of SE 3rd Street. It was determined to have been caused by a child playing with a phone.

Police responded to a complaint about ATVs driving on the roadway in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street. The officer was unable to locate them.

April 28:

Police delivered a message in the 700 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police assisted Henry County Sheriff’s Office with a civil paper service in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a solicitor complaint in the 300 block of SW 4th Street. The subject was located and referred to City Hall to obtain a permit.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up complaint in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer was unable to locate anyone needing assistance.

April 29:

Police responded to a possible violation of an order of protection in the 200 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police delivered a message for HCSO in the 700 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance involving juveniles in the 600 block of NW 7th Avenue.

Police responded to a civil dispute involving the removal of property in the 600 block of NE 1st Avenue.

Police assisted the ambulance with a medical emergency just west of town.

While patrolling, police noticed a train had stopped and was blocking all Galva railroad crossings. BNSF was contacted and they reported it as a mechanical issue. It eventually moved along after repairs.

April 30:

Police responded to a report of a dog barking in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue. The animal owner was warned and advised.

Police responded to a property line dispute in the 800 block of West Division Street.

Police responded to a disabled vehicle complaint in the 500 block of James B Young Road.

Police responded to a traffic complaint involving a juvenile who passed a stopped school bus in the 400 block of SE 6th Street. The juvenile was located and warned.

Police, along with the street department, responded to a report of a large tree limb that fell partially into a porch/house in the 00 block of SE 5th Avenue.

Police responded to a report of a debit card that had been located and turned in in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance in the 500 block of NE 3rd Street.

May 1:

Police responded to a runaway juvenile complaint in the 100 block of SW 5th Street. The juvenile returned home as the officer was taking the report.

Police were flagged down to assist a citizen in the 100 block of Market Street.

Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint involving telephone harassment in the 100 block of NW 6th Avenue.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to take a complaint involving disorderly conduct.

Police spoke with the owner of an abandoned vehicle located in Annawan in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a complaint involving a subject who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on NW 5th Street.

May 2:

Police responded to a fight involving several subjects in the 300 block of Front Street. This case remains under investigation.

Police assisted the Kewanee Police Department with a welfare check on NW 7th Street. The officer did not locate the subject.

Police responded to a civil standby to retrieve property in the 1000 block of NW 7th Avenue.

Isabella Kean, 19, Rock Island, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.

May 3:

Police assisted a citizen who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 400 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a request by Henry County for a motorist assist on Route 34 east of town.
