Kasey Mitchell got a promotion from the City Council Monday.
Mitchell, who is the city clerk, was appointed by the council as city manager pro tempore, effective Tuesday.
The new job is only temporary, and will last until the council hires a new city manager.
The manager post has been vacant since Oct. 27, when City Manager Gary Bradley was relieved of his duties. In the meantime, Mitchell and Mayor Gary Moore have been performing some of the city manager duties.
Moore has also commended the rest of the city staff for pitching in while the manager position is vacant.
The council Monday also hired a consulting firm, MGT Impact Solutions, to assist in the search for a new city manager.
Councilman Adam Cernovich said the process should take about 14 weeks.
The city will pay MGT Impact Solutions $25,500 for its assistance with the search.
Chris Berry, the city’s new public works director, was also hired with the help of MGT.
