Zeb Rashid, All-Conference Offensive Player of the Year, heads around left end during Annawan-Wethersfield’s first-round playoff win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw.

Two teams with only one loss on the season will meet Saturday at Wethersfield Memorial Stadium, as the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans face the Morrison Mustangs in the second round of the IHSA Class 1A playoffs.

The Titans’ only loss came in the second game of the season, a 21-20 game against still-undefeated Stark County that turned on a failed attempt at a two-point conversion late in the game.

For Morrison, the sole loss came by one touchdown, 14-7, to Rockridge on Oct. 6. The Rockets lost their first game of the season to Sterling Newman, then ran up nine straight victories, including a 37-21 win over Westville last Saturday in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Highlights of the Mustangs’ season include handing playoff qualifier Princeton its only loss of the season, 22-21.

The Titans’ highlights included handing ending Farmington’s bid for an undefeated season, and beating playoff teams ROWVA-Williamsfield and Princeville.

The Titans were led by junior running back Zeb Rashid, who was named Conference Offensive Player of the Year, was a unanimous all-conference player on offense and was first-team all-conference at linebacker.

Rashid continued his dominant performances in last week’s first-round playoff game against Deer Creek-Mackinaw, rushing for 245 yards on 14 carries. Five of those carries were for touchdowns; Rashid amassed 167 yards on those touchdown runs alone.

Other all-conference performers for the Titans were:

Quarterback and defensive back senior Dillon Horrie, unanimous first team all-conference DB and honorable mention all-conference quarterback.

Senior Drew Haverback: first team all-conference defensive line.

Junior Alec Earley: First team all-conference offensive line.

Senior Landon Sauer: First team all-conference kicker, second team all-conference defensive back and honorable mention all-conference punter.

Senior Cohen Newman: Second team all-conference offensive lineman and defensive lineman.

Junior Brody Childs: Second team all-conference linebacker.

Senior Ashton Potter: Honorable mention all-conference defensive back.

Saturday’s game starts at 1 p.m. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m.
