Boiler Girls fall to Sterling Newman

The Boiler Girls traveled to Sterling Tuesday night and lost to an always tough Newman Central Catholic team 22-25, 18-25. 

The defending TRAC champs move to 14-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The Boiler Girls fall to 6-9 and 2-3 in TRAC play. 

Emma Ellenberger and Macee Pickering had four and three kills, respectively. Posting one kill each for the Boilers Girls were Taylor VanWinkle, Tejhiana Amos, Jillian Bennison, Aaliyah Duarte and Avery Yepsen. 

Yepsen and Pickering dished out five and four assists on the night. Ellenberger and Duarte each recorded a block. 

 Bennison and Ellenberger had seven and four digs. Marlee Bates, Pickering, Duarte and Yepsen each added two digs. 

Yepsen and Duarte tallied five and three service points. Ellenberger and Pickering added two each, VanWinkle and Bennison each had one. 

The KHS sophomores topped the Comets 25-13, 25-22 and move to 18-3 on the season and 4-0 in TRAC play. The freshmen team was also victorious 25-14, 25-18. Their record is 11-1-1 and 4-1 in the LTC.

The Boiler Girls host Mendota Wednesday night at H.F. Brockman Gym. The varsity match gets underway at 7 p.m.
