Kewanee Hog Days to provide low cost sandwiches with curbside delivery

Prices for everything else may be going up, but one thing won’t be. The Kewanee Hog Days announced that the price of their famous pork chops and pork patty sandwiches will remain the same as years before.

Festival attendees can purchase a pork chop sandwich for $5 and the price of a pork patty will be just $3. Once again, Kewanee Save-A-Lot is the official provider of the pork for the 2023 Hog Days Festival.

Along with the price, another constant will remain. The recent addition of the pork chop sandwich drive-thru will also be back.

Staffed by area youth groups, the drive-thru will be located at Gustafson’s Park on West Third Street. Customers will even be able to order a chop without leaving their vehicle.

The drive-thru will accept debit-credit cards and people will be able to wait in their cars while volunteers complete their order. The drive-thru can be entered from the west side of the lot this year, off Lexington or West Second Street.

For those wishing to visit their favorite volunteer groups, here’s the list of the times:

Saturday, Sept. 2, at 11 am to 4 pm, the Kewanee Ballhawks 09

Saturday, Sept. 2, from 4 pm to close, the Kewanee High School Pom Pon Squad and Competitive Dance Team

Sunday, Sept. 3, 11 am to 4 pm, the Kewanee High School Key Club

Sunday, Sept. 3, 4 pm to close, the KHS Cheerleading Squad

Monday, Sept. 4 , 11 am to 4 pm, the Kewanee High School Key Club

Monday, Sept. 4, 4 pm to close, the Kewanee FFA Chapter.
