Kewanee’s annual Hog Days parade marched through downtown Saturday, Sept. 5, as floats, local businesses, youth groups, high school bands and the Great Lakes Naval Band powered through the sweltering heat to keep one of the community’s favorite traditions alive.

The Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club, which organizes the parade each year, announced the 2026 category winners following the procession. Breedlove’s Sporting Goods earned the Ambassador Award, while Little’s Lawn Care took home the Sweepstakes Award.

Parasomnia received the Commercial Award, and Girl Scout Troop #889 was recognized in the Not‑for‑Profit category.

The Most Original honor went to the Foster and Adoption Awareness group, and Best Horse was awarded to Israel Corral.

Crowds lined the streets despite the heat, cheering on favorites as kids made sure to collect and take home as many goodies as they could carry.
