Dolly and her two newborn kittens were surrendered to the shelter as strays at the beginning of June.
Since then, Dolly has shown to be a good little mama, taking great care of her babies over the last few months. One of her two kittens has already been adopted, and she is patiently awaiting a forever home herself.
She was a petite girl, weighing only 6.8 pounds upon arrival. Since being at the shelter she has put on two pounds, adding up to 8.8 pounds at her last weigh in.
Dolly was treated for parasites when she first arrived, and the staff is proud to say she is now parasite free and gaining weight back with every bite. She now enjoys every meal and loves receiving treats.
One of Dolly’s unique characteristics is that she has a very short tail. It is unknown how her tail came to be so short, but it does make her one of a kind.
She portrays an inquisitive nature and loves to explore her surroundings. She also loves other cats and is very outgoing and affectionate with them when she interacts with them at the shelter.
She also has a very playful nature and has many toys which she indulges in when she gets the chance.
She has not been tested up close and personal around dogs, so it is unknown how she would react around them.
This sweet little mama has an appointment on Aug. 19 to be spayed, microchipped and to receive a rabies vaccination. She has received her distemper shots and has been flea treated.
Dolly would make the perfect companion for other cats that may want a sister.
If you are interested in adopting this loving girl, call the shelter at 309-852-0040, or stop in anytime during visiting hours to meet this gorgeous calico. Adoption fee is $60.
