KEWANEE WEATHER

Out & About this weekend, July 17-19

By Diane Tucker    July 17, 2026

No need to travel this weekend as Kewanee’s got it all, starting with the Prairie Chicken Arts Festival that runs both Friday and Saturday. The days are jam-packed with activities and fun for the whole family. For a complete listing of events and times, see “See what’s new at the Prairie Chicken Arts Festival this year”.

Also on Friday evening is the St. Peter’s Ice Cream Social at 119 S. Grove St. The social takes place from 4:30-6 p.m. For just $10, receive barbecue, chips, pie or cake, ice cream and a drink. Take the night off from cooking, get out of the heat and enjoy a good meal in the process.

Also, this weekend, the Kewanee Shop Small Business Crawl wraps up. Shop at any participating business and receive a punch on supplied cards. Receive 12 or more punches and you will be entered into two drawings for Shop Crawl Dollars. Participating businesses include Baysingar’s Antiques, Blissful Branch, Blooms by Heartfelt, Breedlove’s Sporting Goods, Co Co’s, Country Morning Coffee, Empire Bookshop, Gallery on Second, Goods Furniture, Hillside Florist, Jessie’s Closet, Johnson’s Appliance, Johnson’s Hub, Prairie Chicken Haus, Say Less and Walter’s Jewelry.

There are also some great events on next week’s horizon. Crossroads Cultural Connections will present the Kris Lager Band at Ca d’Zan Porch Concerts in Cambridge on Wednesday evening. There will be a community potluck at 6 p.m. with the concert at 7 p.m.
