Multiple tickets issued during July Fourth traffic enforcement campaign

By The Kewanee Voice    July 8, 2026

The Kewanee Police Department has released the results of a traffic enforcement campaign it conducted recently.

The department issued 10 seat belt citations, two speeding citations, one suspended driver’s license arrest and a citation for disobeying a traffic control device.

The tickets were issued during the Fourth of July “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” safety campaigns that ran from June 19 through July 6.

Kewanee police joined more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies conducting the safety effort.

The campaign featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities.

The campaign included the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket”

campaigns. Those efforts are made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

These efforts are complemented by IDOT’s “It’s Not a Game” media campaign, which emphasizes the serious consequences of impaired driving and other unsafe driving behaviors.
