Mineral Pride Society to host fundraiser for historical museum

By The Kewanee Voice    May 29, 2026
The Mineral Historical Museum was established in 2011. Funds are being raised for repairs.

The Mineral Pride Society will hold a fundraiser for the Mineral Historical Museum on Saturday, June 13 from 3 to 7 p.m. Main Street in front of the museum will be closed for the event, and the museum will be open for viewing throughout the afternoon.

Established in 2011, the Mineral Historical Museum occupies the village’s only remaining storefront building. The museum houses artifacts spanning Mineral’s 175‑year history, but the building now needs repairs. A dedicated group of volunteers is working to raise funds to preserve the structure for future generations.

The fundraiser will include a food tent, a raffle and live music by Dani Lynn Howe, performing country and rock hits from the 1950s through the 1990s. Raffle prizes include three $100 gas cards and other gifts. Tickets are available at one for $10, three for $20 or eight for $50.

A GoFundMe page titled “Support Mineral Museum” has also been created to help restore the building. Admission to the event is free.

The museum is located at 121 E. Main St. in Mineral. Live music will begin at 4 p.m., and raffle winners will be announced at 6 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and beverages.
