The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans JV baseball team had a very successful night, as they defeated the Princeton Tigers by a hefty 18-1 score, thanks to a powerful third inning.
The Titans got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Jaton Huber drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Scott Vandesampel singled, scoring two runs.
The Titans added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Isaiah Cornish doubled down the left field line, London Sain singled to center field, and the Tigers committed an error, each scoring one run.
The third inning really showed the Titans’ abilities. They scored 11 runs on two hits in the bottom of the third.
Logan Walter induced Huber to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, Victor Skaggs grounded out, scoring one run, Mason Mallery drew a walk, scoring one run, Carter Brown singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Cornish was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Huber was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and an error scored two runs.
Skaggs was the pitcher for the Titans. He gave up two hits and one run over four innings, striking out eight and walking none.
The game was called after four innings.
