Galva police report for May 18-24

May 18:

Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 900 block of West Division Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police responded to a suspicious activity complaint in the 300 block of SE 6th Street.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up in the 400 block of SW 2nd Avenue. It was determined to be an accidental misdial.

May 19:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up in the 500 block of SW 3rd Street. The officer checked the area but was unable to locate anyone in need of assistance.

Police met with a resident on Swank Street to discuss a city ordinance violation they had received.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of SE 1st Avenue. The dog was located and returned to its owner.

Police removed an unwanted subject at a residence on NW 3rd Avenue.

May 20:

Police responded to a complaint involving a property line dispute in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police, along with the ambulance, were dispatched to the Exchange Street railroad crossing for a medical emergency involving an unconscious pedestrian. They were transported to a local hospital.

Police were present at a civil standby to retrieve property in the 100 block of North Exchange Street.

Police removed an unruly customer in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. The subject was also served with a written banning notice.

Police responded to Route 17 south of town after a motorist struck something in the roadway. A deer was possibly struck by an unknown vehicle and then struck again by this motorist. No injuries were reported.

May 21:

Police responded to a loose pitbull complaint in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. The officer was unable to locate
the animal.

Police took possession of counterfeit currency in the 200 block of SW 2nd Avenue.

Police conducted a low speed vehicle inspection in the 600 block of NW 1st Street.

Police spoke with a resident who had located a stray cat in the 400 block of NW 1st Street.

May 22:

While patrolling, police located a motorist who appeared to be lost. The officer spoke with the subject and gave him directions to get to Interstate 80.

Police were called to check the welfare of a subject at a residence on SW 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a complaint involving an abandoned vehicle in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 00 block of NW 3rd Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police responded to a complaint involving a subject causing a disturbance and hitting concrete with a large hand tool in the 900 block of West Division Street. Marks were located on the concrete, but no actual damage was documented.

Zachary Mott, 32, Kewanee, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 200 block of SE 2nd Street.

May 23:

Police responded to a complaint involving a resident bitten by a stray cat in the 900 block of North Center Avenue. A very minor injury was observed/reported.

Police responded to a report of a water leak in the 900 block of North Center Avenue. The Galva Water Department was contacted and advised.

Jessica Fletcher, 34, Galva, was issued administrative warning tickets (AWTs) for allowing a dog to run at large and failure to obtain rabies inoculation after police responded to a report of a loose pitbull in Wiley Park. The dog was located and returned home.

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 400 block of NE 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line in the 400 block of SW 3rd Avenue. It was determined to be an accidental dial.

May 24:

While patrolling, police saw a train coming to a stop and ultimately blocking every Galva crossing. BNSF was contacted, and the train eventually moved along.

Police responded to a possible attempted burglary in the 100 block of NW 3rd Avenue. The officer checked the area but did not locate anyone. No entry was made to the residence.

Police conducted a low speed vehicle inspection at the Galva Police Department.

While patrolling, police located a subject experiencing vehicle problems in the 100 block of SE 4th Avenue. The officer was able to assist.

Police responded to a complaint involving either gunshots or fireworks being heard in the 700 block of NW 3rd Avenue. The officer checked the entire area but did not locate anything unusual.

Police conducted a low speed vehicle inspection in the 500 block of NW 10th Street.
