Geneseo City Council approves TIF projects, solar updates

GENESEO–The Geneseo City Council approved several measures Tuesday, April 28 aimed at supporting local development and infrastructure improvements.

Council members passed Tax Increment Financing (TIF) ordinances to help fund utility expansion on Ford Road for Edwards Construction. They also approved TIF assistance for Vorac Pharmacy to replace a worn awning, covering half of the project’s cost.

The Geneseo Electric Company was recognized with an Excellence in Reliability Award for maintaining outage times well below the national average.

In other business, the council accepted Valley Construction’s bid to mill and repair the failing overlay on roads completed in 2024.

Members also updated local solar regulations, allowing residential and commercial systems up to 25 kilowatts without requiring liability insurance.

Protesters in Geneseo call for end to war in Iran

GENESEO —About 50 people gathered along Oakwood Avenue in Geneseo on Saturday, April 25 to protest the war in Iran and voice opposition to the current administration.

Organizer Tom Carr said the turnout was steady throughout the event and that reactions from passing motorists and pedestrians were “a fairly even mix.”

The demonstration was part of a series of local actions calling for peace and urging diplomatic solutions to the conflict.
