Teammates, classmates, friends, family and faculty gathered in the Wethersfield High School gymnasium after school Thursday to applaud a graduating senior as he took the next step in his academic and athletic career.

With his mother and grandparents looking on, Noah Feltner signed a letter of Intent to run cross country and track at Millikin University next fall.

“Noah has been a tremendous student athlete throughout his years here at Wethersfield,” said Athletic Director Tom McGunnigal.

His impressive list of accomplishments in cross country includes:

–Three-time Top 10 All-Conference runner
–Two-time State Qualifier
–Captain of the Annawan-Wethersfield cross country team his senior year
–Part of the fastest men’s cross country team in school history
–Fourth fastest runner in A-W history (2nd at Wethersfield)
–Part of the first men’s team to qualify for state in school history.

And in track:

–Part of the frosh-soph conference championship team his sophomore year
–Part of the second fastest 4X800 team in school history
–Feltner was also consistently named Academic All-Conference in both sports all four years.

When asked to pick one accomplishment as the highlight of his high school career, Feltner didn’t hesitate to say it was being on the first men’s cross country team in school history to qualify for state.

He will be a law enforcement major in addition to being a member of Millikin’s Big Blue track and cross country teams.

According to its home page, Millikin, located in Decatur, Ill., is an independent, four-year university that is privately funded, has an enrollment of approximately 1,600 students in traditional and non-traditional undergraduate and graduate degree programs and is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.

Feltner said he chose Millikin because they offered the classes he wanted, a cost that fit his budget and a welcoming community.

According to reports, Millikin’s men’s X-CC team secured a fourth-place finish at the 2025 CCIW Championships and 13th at the NCAA Midwest Regional and is building the program with young talent, which is where Noah Feltner will fit right in.
