Wethersfield Jr./Sr. High School art students recently attended the Henry/Stark Art Festival at Stark County High School, showcasing their creativity alongside students from across the district.

The annual event features a wide range of artistic styles and categories, giving students the opportunity to display their work. More than 24 categories were on display, including pencil and ink, photography and digital art, ceramics and sculpture, painting and watercolor, charcoal and oil, mixed media and textiles and scratch art.

This year’s festival was organized through a collaboration between Wethersfield art teacher Liz Kegebein, Geneseo’s Sarah Degarmo and Stark County’s Marianna Debolt. The event was sponsored by Blick Art Materials.

Schools arrived at 3:30 p.m. to set up and display artwork before judging began. Judges Heather Ford and Annie Oldenburg evaluated submissions while students and attendees participated in hands-on workshops. Activities included collage, basic crocheting, ceramic painting, card making, wire art and floral design.

“I’m excited to take the students,” Kegebein said. “I feel that we get a lot of inspiration from the shows, and it’s an all-around very inspirational experience.”

Following the workshops, participants attended dinner before the show officially began at 6 p.m. Judges then provided feedback, and awards were presented to winners.
